A SL home is still a home surely?

Just recently I started to look for a home in SL and found a lovely sim where people came together for friendship and a sense of community. I met a few resisdents and loved the landscaping around the homes. I collected some freebie furniture and moved in. A few nights later I signed on and saw a green dot inside the blue area that showed my home. Thinking that was very weird I flew over and found a male newbiew avatar sitting on my couch. The front door was still locked and I later found out he'd used the sit here option of the couch to get inside. I asked him politely to leave as I had no invited him to my home and didn't even know him. He refused saying it was a game and he could go anywhere he liked. I asked him if he'd behave that way to a rl house and he laughed at me and finally left.
Am I being over sensitive to be angry at that? I behave in SL as I would in a RL place. I don't enter places I'm not invited too, if I knock into someone I say sorry. I spoke to my neighbour and he said that guy was either a newbie and didn't know better or was a greifer.
